Booking terms
Payment, deposits and cancellations
Short version: booking holds a slot, and it isn't confirmed until we say so. Changed your plans? Move the date — it's free, and whatever you've paid comes with you. If you'd rather cancel outright: paid in full, you get 90% back; paid a deposit, the deposit stays with us. And if we can't do the job, you get 100% back either way.
1. Booking and confirmation
Submitting the form and paying holds your slot — it does not confirm it. We review every request by hand and reply by email, usually within a few hours. If we can't take the booking we decline it and refund you in full, with nothing withheld.
2. Paying
You choose at checkout: pay the full amount, or pay a 10% deposit now and settle the rest on the day once you're happy with the work. Card payments are handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
Prices shown as “from” are estimates. Where a job needs inspection first (paint correction in particular), we confirm the exact figure in writing before any work starts. You are never charged more than the amount you agreed.
3. Changing the date
This is the easy one, and the one we'd rather you used. Every booking email has a manage link. Up to 48 hours before your slot you can move it to any other available day yourself, free, up to three times. Whatever you've already paid — deposit or full amount — moves with the booking. Nothing is refunded and nothing new is charged.
The new time goes back to “awaiting confirmation”, because we need to check travel and what else is on that day. We'll email you as usual.
Inside 48 hours, or after three moves, just call us. We're not going to be awkward about it.
4. Cancelling
If you paid in full and cancel with more than 48 hours' notice, 90% is refunded automatically. We retain 10% to cover the slot being held and other work turned away. Inside 48 hours there's no automatic refund — get in touch and we'll look at it.
If you paid a deposit, the deposit isn't refunded. That's what a deposit is for: once a slot is yours, that day is closed to everyone else. But it isn't lost either — tell us and we'll put it towards another date, whenever suits you. We would much rather do the work than keep £14.
If we cancel or decline: you get 100% back, deposit included, whatever the notice. That includes weather that makes the job impossible.
5. On the day
We need roughly a car's width of clear space around the vehicle, ideally off the road. We bring our own water supply and a 50-metre extension lead, but we can't bring electricity — we need access to a standard 3-pin plug socket to power our equipment. You confirm this when you book. If we arrive and the job genuinely can't be done — no space, no plug socket, a car that isn't there — we treat it as a late cancellation: a deposit isn't refunded, and if you paid in full, 80% is returned.
Light rain is fine for most stages. If the forecast makes the work impossible we'll contact you the day before and move it at no charge.
6. What we can and can't fix
Paint correction removes roughly 80% of swirl marks and light scratches. Damage deep enough to catch a fingernail has gone through the clear coat and needs bodywork rather than polishing — we'll tell you which is which before we start, not after.
We treat pre-existing damage, failing lacquer and aftermarket wraps or paintwork with care, but can't accept liability for defects that were already there. If we spot something we'll show you before touching it.
7. If something goes wrong
Tell us before we leave and we'll put it right there and then. If you spot something later, email granlussodetailing@gmail.com within 48 hours with photos and we'll come back out. Nothing here affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
.env, change this page to match. This is a
plain-English starting point written to be fair, not legal advice. If you start taking
significant money it's worth half an hour with someone qualified, particularly on cancellation
fees, which under UK consumer law have to reflect genuine loss rather than act as a penalty.
